. I wanted to ask about the Trio test I am an Israeli living in Norway, married to a Norwegian and we have two boys, 4 and 7 years old. Both boys are diagnosed with autism and the youngest also has a metabolic disorder. This week we have seen a neurologist that recommended us to take the Trio test. He said that the blood will be taken in Norway and will be sent to the US. He said we will have to wait for the results for one year. I don’t know if it’s relevant or not, but my husband’s brother died from heart failure 25 years ago at the age of 11. The trio test is not in the normal governmental checkup basket and it costs a fortune of 20000 dollars we were told. My question is if this checkup can be done in Israel? If yes what are the costs? Could you recommend an Israeli genetic expert? Thank you Shlomit

I am assuming the test you are talking about is whole exome sequencing for you your husband and one of the children. it is a good diagnostic choice, if you can afford it. even a 4 way test (both children). its expensive and the time till the results is the bioinformatics needed . a year sounds VERY long time if you are paying for it and a clinical laboratory.15 months is more than plenty I would suggest a good experienced lab for the test, currently most of them are in the us, some in Europe (germany mostly) could be elsewhere I don't know I don't recommend doctors online, seek a geneticist who deals with autism. good luck!.
