The greatest benefit is realized in women who perform the equivalent of VE (30 min/day/ 60% to 70% VO2max/HRmax/MCC – “not easy/not hard” (see Vol. 1). They may improve their rate of survival. The protective benefit of VE is similar among overfat women (over 35% BPF) AND women of normal fat (under 30% BPF). VE is beneficial to women whose tumor has both estrogen AND progesterone receptors . VE is particularly beneficial to women with stage III disease . Women doing VE have had a better chance of survival, in comparison to those who did less OR more exercise, OR who did not exercise at all, as there is a possible hormonal mechanism geared to survival of afflicted women . There is a possible connection between VE AND a hormonal mechanism that may be responsible for the survival of women with breast cancer. Non-VE (vigorous activity such as 75% OR more of the VO2max OR less than 60% of it) can be linked to an increased risk AND is less beneficial than VE. In this case, the cancer might be resistant to the effects of physical activity. There is evidence only of the benefit of proper VE to surviving breast cancer. NEAT/ ADL (occupational AND household activities) may also affect the risk of an adverse outcome in women with breast cancer. Remember! The cancer has spread to lymph nodes inside the chest wall along the breastbone. The main possible effect of VE is its cellular immunity therapy (CIT) -cytoprotection.
