Thank you for any information you may provide my brother, 61 years old, with mental retardation from birth was diagnosed with GBM (4, surgery and treatment were the obvious course of action, however given his special condition, and his inability to cope and/or cooperate with the course of treatment, surgery and treatment may not be an option. we had consulted with both surgeons and neuro-oncologist, with a grim prognosis at this stage of the tumor. CT was taken 2 weeks ago and we were told it's a matter of days. with treatment of Dexacort and Dantoin, he is now able to walk and function to his capacity. could you please provide any other options and failing that, please specify the progression of symptoms, what and when to expect thank you Shoshie.
Dear Shoshie, You and the involved medical team came to the conclusion that active treatment for your brother is not an option. This might be a legitimate decision. However depending on the size and location of the tumor this might not be a matter of days. Also specific symptoms are related to the location of the tumor. Best regards Andy Kanner, MD
