Diverticulitis

Dear Doctor, My husband is 59 years old and has just had his second attack of Diverticulitis. He did well on antibiotic therapy(Flagyl and Ciprodex) . He is generally fit and not overweight. He was however informed this time that he should have an operation as the attack will inevitable recur and as he is younger he should operate now. They said that the CT shows enlargement of the sacs. He also had a sigmoidoscopy which they stated was clear. He is due to undergo a colonospcopy in about 5 wks. time as my GP told us that it is dangerous to carry it out too soon after an attack.
