Hi, Is there any point to set up an appointment with a speech therapist if the results of a hearing test didnt come up good? The Otolaryngologist diagnosed fluids in my sons ears AND prescribed him antibiotics for a month. We are still bothered by his behavior though. Is there any tipical behavior for a child with a hearing problems? He is nearly 21 months now. Thanks,
Yes, there is. have the child take the antibiotics AND make sure to have hs heraing re-tested. at this age it migth well be that the medicine will not make the problem go away, since it migth be a problem with perfusion to his middle ear, which is not always infected (the antibiotics treat the infection, but sometimes the ear needs to be drained. you migth want to have the child cheked by the therapist, if only for counseling, evaluation AND basis for follow up. good health AND happy pesah
