Communication

Hi, Does a 1 year AND 9 months toddler that would not say one word AND would not point out on things necessarily means he has some kind of communication disorder? He does understand alot of what we are asking from him, he loves to be hugged AND kissed, would not avoid an eye contact AND enjoys our (his parents) AND the other toddlers in the nursary company. Whenever he wants something he would just bring it to us (like a book he wants to be read out to him), a toy he wishes to play with us OR touch the T.V. if he wants to watch it. I know he should be seen AND we have already booked an appointment with a speech therapist. But we just wanted to know whether the "pointing out" at this age is so critical AND maybe it can only be a delay in speech development. He is Bilingual by the way. One last thing,in general can this communication issue be something that can be treated AND dealt with in a specific period of time OR is it something for a lifetime? Thanks
Just remembered that sometimes he would point out only at things in books but when he sits by himself AND goes through them (not when we read it out to him ). But he would not point out on things other than that Sorry for the length of this message Thanks again
The descripiton can fit many things' please get professional evaluation AND counsel. I will be glad to follow this case, after the speech pathologist/ are you going to be in israel during the summer?
